Advanced non-contact technology for control of pile risk

The most advanced technology for monitoring pile installation.

Developed by geotechnical and foundation engineer Dr Julian Seidel, the PDM3 addresses a fundamental weakness in modern piling practice: that 90% or more of driven piles are installed with inadequate controls that adversely impact on the reliability of the whole project.

The PDM3 brings modern remote measurement technology to driven piling projects, allowing safe and accurate high-frequency measurements of pile movement, coupled with software which harnesses 40 years of experience in piling and pile testing.

PDM3 key specifications

  • High-speed 1280 x 720 pixel LED infrared camera

  • Position resolution to 1/32 pixel

  • Tracks pile position between 5000 and 8000 times per second

  • Positional resolution to 0.04mm at 10m offset measurement distance

  • IP65 rated

  • Connected to tablet via a USB-C cable

  • Isolation and stabilization system

The PDM3’s non-contact measurement methodology can be used to monitor the movement of a broad range of targets to an accuracy of around +/- 0.1mm under static or dynamic conditions. Measurement frequency can be up to 8000 times per second.

The PDM is a versatile precise monitoring tool
